Repetition

The painting on the wall
A work lost in mindless conformity
It lies in all rooms in this hotel
Beauty gone in repetition

The Future of Nature
01:00
The uneven landscape / a glimpse into the future of nature / towers rise from the ground / creating and blocking / wealth, happiness and the sun

Perfect
02:44
Don’t go fixing / its perfect, just leave it be / and maybe its broken / or maybe that’s just how you see it / And that’s okay by me

Lights
01:10
You were under the falling snow / pretending to see each snow flake, unique as they are / the car lights illuminate the wet streets / hazy through my eyes and through the fog

Heard

Writing in the sand / only to have it be washed away / thoughts / knowledge / voice / the tide / ebb and flow / until something is done

If Only all the Time
02:40
It’s a rare occasion / to be in a state of such bliss / with no waking feelings of encumbrance or worry / when anxiety sleeps all is forgiven / such moments last leaving traces like footprints in the snow

Cars in a Row (Broken Sticks)
Are new things made from the ashes of old / will our old work be tomorrow’s gold? / swept out to sea, useless treasure there too / sold it to an honest man for some food and the truth
And he told me it’s pointless, to be waiting in line / cars in a row under the streetlight shine / so I bought a cabin, it was out in the woods / no computer or phone, just me in the rooms
And I sat on the floor and started to draw / a new free world, a place for us all / but being caught up on the small things brought my vision to a close / I couldn't colour in the lines of my utopian rose
So I scribbled out my picture, headed back for the lake / I missed the skyscrapers and smiles so fake / because nothing is perfect but it can be pretty damn close / life is what you make it, and this truth I own

Stop Motion Life
01:02
The fluorescent flutter / a stop motion life / each photograph a memory / each memory a dream, barely remembered and yet present—no matter how out of reach

Apartment Buildings
02:00
Apartment buildings disappear through the winter’s fog, each window a light, each light a life. All different yet so close. The windows, they vanish behind the blanket of space but the lights shine through, illuminating the night and my thoughts.
